Konet Monitoring, a technician watching server uptime late in the evening

Konet Monitoring, Uptime Monitoring for Every Hosting Plan

Konet Team · · 4 min read

Since early September 2026 the availability of our servers and of all the websites we host has been monitored by Konet Monitoring, a system that we developed and operate ourselves.

Why we are taking this decision

The commercial monitoring tools we used until now did not meet the level of reliability we require. The false availability alerts they generated led us to unnecessary interventions and, most importantly, reduced our trust in the measurements themselves.

We also wanted an independent source of data for our uptime. Konet Monitoring runs in a separate environment, outside the core infrastructure of our servers, so that its measurements are not affected by the very system it monitors. This way, when we report availability, we rely on our own verifiable data.

Most important of all, Konet Monitoring is connected to iSend, the SMS and Viber messaging platform we have developed ourselves. Our team is notified immediately, by email and SMS, of every change in the availability of our servers and critical services, at any hour, with no dependence on a third-party provider. iSend is also available for your own business, for notifications, reminders and promotional messages to your customers. You can find out more at isend.gr.

The benefit for you

With Konet Monitoring we are introducing something that is not common practice in our field, namely proactive monitoring by the provider itself, for every website, VPS and dedicated server we host, regardless of plan. Datacenters and most providers monitor only their own infrastructure. We also monitor your own website, VPS or dedicated server proactively, because for you, that is what matters.

Every website hosted at Konet is now checked continuously, around the clock, for its uptime. An availability problem is noticed by us immediately, so that it can be dealt with before you even notice it.

The Konet Monitoring service covers every hosting plan and every VPS and dedicated server you have from us.

Further improvements to Konet Monitoring will follow, and we will let you know about them in a new announcement as soon as they are ready.

What proactive monitoring means

Proactive monitoring means that we do not wait for you to tell us that something is not working. The system checks your website or server at regular, short intervals, around the clock, and as soon as it detects an availability problem it alerts our team automatically. This way, the investigation starts within a few minutes of the moment the problem occurs, and not from the moment you notice it and report it to us.

Why SMS

Choosing SMS as the alert channel is not a random detail. An email, an in-app notification or a push notification need an internet connection and an open application to reach the recipient. An SMS reaches the mobile phone through the mobile network, regardless of data connection, applications or time of day. For a system that has to wake someone up at three in the morning, this difference is decisive.

Equally important, these alerts are sent through iSend, our own SMS and Viber Marketing platform, and not through some third-party notification service. The entire chain, from detecting the problem to the message on the mobile phone, is under our own control, with no dependence on external platforms that may change their terms, be delayed or be discontinued.

Scope of SMS alerts

SMS alerts currently apply only to all of our customers' VPS and dedicated servers. For hosting plans, SMS alerts are not yet included as a service, but they will be available soon and we will let you know.

What you need to do

No action is needed on your part. Monitoring of your website, VPS or dedicated server is already active.

Websites behind Cloudflare or another CDN/firewall

If your website goes through Cloudflare or a similar protection service, Konet Monitoring checks may be blocked by that service's mechanisms before they reach your website. In that case your website cannot be monitored, not because of an availability problem but because the check is not allowed to complete. To enable monitoring, open a ticket and we will send you the details you need to add to your service's settings. It is a simple exception rule that does not affect the protection of your website. Keep in mind that Cloudflare itself can have outages, as in the Cloudflare outage of November 2025.
