Dear customer,
With the holidays approaching, we wish you:
Happy and Blessed Holidays!
A Happy and Blessed New Year!
We would like to let you know about the PHP upgrade on all our servers.
PHP 8.0
From 28/12/2020, PHP 8.0 is available on all our servers, Linux and Windows. On the Linux servers you can use either the CloudLinux PHP (altphp80) or the cPanel PHP (eaphp80). We recommend using the CloudLinux PHP, whichever version you choose.
PHP 8.0 is the most recent version released by php.net. It brings a range of updates and improvements over previous PHP versions, such as:
- Support for Union types - Union types allow you to assign multiple types to a parameter, property, or return.
- The Just in Time (JIT) compiler - The JIT compiler will compile parts of your code at runtime, in order to improve the response time of your web pages.
- Named arguments - Named arguments allow you to assign a name to input data and call that in your code, rather than relying on the order of the arguments.
- Attributes - Attributes act as an annotation in your PHP code, which allows you to add metadata.
Older PHP versions
The PHP versions that are no longer supported, or whose support is expected to end soon, are the following:
- PHP 5.6, end of support on 31 December 2018
- PHP 7.0, end of support on 10 January 2019
- PHP 7.1, end of support on 1 December 2019
- PHP 7.2, end of support on 30 November 2020
- PHP 7.3, end of support on 6 December 2021
- PHP 7.4, end of support on 28 November 2022
If your website or applications use any PHP version that has reached end of life, we recommend upgrading to a newer supported version right away.
