Scheduled Outage of the .gr and .ελ Domain Name Registry Services

Below is a notice about a scheduled outage of the .gr and .ελ Domain Name Registry services. The .gr and .ελ Domain Name Registry carries out upgrades and maintenance on its systems at regular intervals. One such maintenance window is scheduled for the coming Sunday, 26 January 2020.

As an accredited .gr and .ελ domain name registrar, KONET would like to inform you about this scheduled outage.

When is the domain name outage scheduled?

The outage is scheduled for 26 January 2020 from 08:00 Greek time (UTC +2) until 14:00 Greek time (UTC +2). The outage affects all domain name registrars and is not something that concerns KONET alone.

What exactly will not be available for domain names?

Users of our services will not be able to register or renew domain names, or look up information (WHOIS). The outage will be temporary and will only affect .gr and .ελ domain names. Domain names with other extensions (TLDs) will work normally.

What else will the Registry outage affect?

We should point out that this outage will not affect your website hosting at all. Your DNS services should not be affected at all either.

The only services affected will be purchases, renewals and lookups of .gr and .ελ domain names.

When can I not renew domain names?

You cannot renew domain names while the Domain Name Registry has suspended its services.

Outages of the .gr and .ελ Domain Name Registry services unfortunately always take place on a Sunday.

That is why we advise our customers not to leave purchases and renewals of their services for a Sunday. We recommend that purchases and renewals of domain names and website hosting are made from Monday to Saturday.
