How domain renewals and Auto Renewal work

Auto Renewal is disabled on all domains unless you enable it yourself. While it is disabled, the domain is never invoiced and never renewed automatically. You receive reminders and submit
a renewal order yourself whenever you choose, up to the day of expiry. If you enable it, the Billing Statement is issued 30 days before expiry. If there is available credit in your account, it is paid and the renewal is carried out
the same day.

What happens when Auto Renewal is disabled

This is the default for all domains. The system does not issue a Billing Statement and does not carry out any renewal. You only receive the expiry reminder emails. You renew the domain yourself, with an order from the Client Area,
whenever it suits you and up to the day of expiry.

What happens when Auto Renewal is enabled

  1. 30 days before expiry, the renewal Billing Statement is issued.
  2. If there is available credit in your account, the Billing Statement is paid automatically as soon as it is issued. In this case the renewal is carried out 30 days before expiry.
  3. If there is no credit, the Billing Statement remains open. The renewal is carried out as soon as you pay it.

The same applies to all services with a term longer than 6 months, such as domains and hosting plans.

When exactly automatic renewals run

The system's automation runs once a day, at 05:00 Greek time. Every automatic renewal always happens at that time. There is no mechanism that creates a renewal at any other time of day. The
transfer of a domain or the addition of credit does not by itself create a renewal order.

One exception you should know about: if there is already an open renewal Billing Statement and you add credit, the credit will pay it and the renewal will be carried out. The same applies if, in the same visit, you submit both
a renewal order and an Add Funds request. As soon as the deposit is confirmed, the system sees an open Billing Statement and sufficient credit and proceeds with payment.

When do the reminder emails arrive?

Expiry notification emails are sent 60, 30, 15, 7 and 1 day before expiry. They are simple notifications and do not carry out anything. If you manage many domains, you can receive them as a summary, once a week,
every two weeks or once a month.

How Billing Statements are grouped

One Billing Statement is issued for each expiry date. If you have one service expiring on 01/01/2027, you receive one Billing Statement 30 days earlier. If you have 5 or 10 services expiring on the same day, you still receive one Billing Statement,
covering all of them.

How to enable or disable Auto Renewal on a domain

  1. Log in to the Client Area.
  2. Open your list of domains.
  3. Select the domain.
  4. Change the Auto Renew setting.

The setting is per domain. Billing Statement issue times, run times and reminder days are the same across the whole system and do not vary per account.

Which approach to choose if you have many domains

You can work in whichever way suits you. Our resellers usually use one of the following:

  • Auto Renewal enabled on the domains you care about and disabled on the domains of clients who have not paid yet.
  • Auto Renewal disabled everywhere, renewing all expiring domains once a month.
  • Manual renewal of each domain individually.

If you leave Auto Renewal enabled and have credit, expect renewals to be carried out 30 days before expiry, not shortly before it.

How you will know the renewal is done

The new expiry date appears on the domain's page in the Client Area. The Billing Statement shows as paid.
