Log in to the Client Area, open the security settings of your profile and enable two-factor authentication. You will scan a QR code with an authenticator app on your phone, and from then on, every time you log in, you will be asked for a six-digit code that changes every few seconds. At the end of the process a backup code will be displayed. Keep it safe; it is the only way to get in if you lose your phone.
Two-factor authentication works best when the first factor is a strong password that you do not use anywhere else.
What you need before you start
- Access to the Client Area with your current password
- An authenticator app on your phone or computer. Any app that supports time-based codes will work
- A secure place to store the backup code, for example a password manager
Steps
- Log in to the Client Area
- Select your name at the top right
- Open Security Settings
- In the Two-Factor Authentication section, choose to enable it
- Select the Time Based Tokens method
- Open the authenticator app and scan the QR code shown on the screen
- In the confirmation field, enter the six-digit code shown by the app
- Submit the form
- Copy the backup code that appears and store it in a secure place
The backup code is shown only once. If you close the page without saving it, you cannot view it again.
How you will know it worked
In the security settings, two-factor authentication is shown as active. Log out and log in again. After your password, you will be asked for the six-digit code from the app.
