How to give a collaborator or developer access to your account

To give a collaborator access to your account, you send an invitation to their email from user management in the Client Area and choose exactly what they will be able to do. The collaborator gets their own password and does not use yours, and you can remove their access whenever you want without changing anything in your own account. Never give your own login details to a third party.

What you need before you start

  • Access to the Client Area as the account owner
  • The email of the collaborator who will receive the invitation
  • A decision on what you will allow them to do, for example technical access only without financial information

Steps

  1. Log in to the Client Area
  2. Select your name at the top right
  3. Open user management
  4. Select the option to invite a new user
  5. Enter the collaborator's email
  6. Tick only the permissions you want them to have
  7. Send the invitation

The collaborator receives an email with a link. If they already have a user account, the access is added to the existing one. If not, they create their own password.

Which permissions to give

Give the minimum needed for the job.

For a developer or technician: access to services, single sign-on to cPanel, management of service passwords, domain settings, opening support requests. No financial access.

For an accountant: viewing and paying Billing Statements. No technical access, no orders.

Almost never: the permission to modify the main profile and the permission for orders, upgrades and cancellations. The latter allows a third party to cancel one of your services.

How you will know it worked

The new user appears in the account's user list. As soon as they accept the invitation, their status is no longer pending.

How to remove access

Open user management again, find the user and remove them. The removal takes effect immediately. Remember that if the collaborator had access to cPanel, it is a good idea to also change the service password.

Frequently Asked Questions

The collaborator did not receive the invitation.
Check the spam folder and that the email was typed correctly. Cancel the pending invitation and send a new one.

The collaborator logs in but cannot see the services.
They were not given the corresponding permission. Open their permissions and add it.

I want to give them access to only one of my two sites.
Permissions apply to the whole account, not per service. If you need real separation, the services must be in separate accounts.

I just want them to receive our emails, not to log in.
Then you do not need a user but a contact.
