To connect your email client (e.g. Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, mobile phone) to your Konet email address, you need to apply the correct connection settings. The instructions are the same whether you are creating a new account or changing one that is already set up.
Setup Steps
-
Open your email client and go to Account Settings.
-
Enter your email address and password.
-
Choose the protocol type you want to use (IMAP or POP3).
-
Fill in the settings below, depending on whether you use a secure connection (SSL/TLS, recommended) or a non-secure one (non-SSL, not recommended).
Secure SSL/TLS Settings (Recommended)
-
Username: email@example.com
-
Password: The password of your email account
-
Incoming Server: mail.example.com
-
IMAP Port: 993
-
POP3 Port: 995
-
-
Outgoing Server (SMTP): mail.example.com
-
SMTP Port: 465
-
-
Required: Enable the “My server requires authentication” option.
Non-SSL Settings (Not Recommended)
-
Username: email@example.com
-
Password: The password of your email account
-
Incoming Server: mail.example.com
-
IMAP Port: 143
-
POP3 Port: 110
-
-
Outgoing Server (SMTP): mail.example.com
-
SMTP Port: 587
-
-
Required: Enable the “My server requires authentication” option.
Which protocol should I choose?
-
IMAP: Ideal when you want to access your email from multiple devices (PC, mobile, tablet). It automatically synchronizes folders and actions.
-
POP3: Recommended by Konet for keeping copies of your email locally on your device and saving space on the server.
Important Notes
-
Avoid port 25 (SMTP): It is not supported for sending from cPanel.
-
If you use an old operating system or an old email client that does not support SSL/TLS, you can use the non-SSL settings, but this is not recommended for security reasons.
-
After setup, send a test email. If it appears in Sent and is received correctly, the connection has been set up successfully.
