cPanel Email Deliverability - A detailed guide to understanding and improving deliverability

The Email Deliverability section in cPanel is a tool that shows you whether your domain is correctly configured so that outgoing emails reliably reach their recipients and are not marked as spam. It checks the main authentication protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and lets you fix problems with DNS records.

Where to find Email Deliverability

Log in to cPanel and, in the Email section, select Email Deliverability. There you will see a list of all domains hosted in your account and the configuration status of their records.

What Email Deliverability checks

The tool runs diagnostic checks and shows results for:

SPF (Sender Policy Framework)

A DNS record that states which mail servers are allowed to send email for your domain. If it is missing or wrong, recipients may consider your emails suspicious.

DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail)

A cryptographic signature added to every outgoing email. The recipient verifies this signature through DNS. If it is missing, the chances of ending up in spam increase.

DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance)

A policy based on SPF and DKIM that defines what recipients should do when these fail (e.g. reject the message or mark it as spam). It also provides deliverability reports.

What the Email Deliverability screen shows

For each domain, the following are shown:

  • Detected problems: messages in red or orange that explain what is missing or incorrect.

  • Installed records: the current SPF, DKIM and DMARC DNS records.

  • Suggested fixes: cPanel generates a suggested DNS record that you can copy and add to the domain's DNS zone.

  • Repair button: on servers that have DNS management rights, cPanel can create the correct records automatically.

How to use the tool

  1. Select the domain you are interested in.

  2. Check whether SPF is active and correct. You will see if it is missing or if it does not include your server.

  3. Confirm that a DKIM record exists and that it is valid.

  4. Check whether you have a DMARC policy. If not, add one to protect yourself against spoofing.

  5. Use the Repair option or copy the suggested records into your DNS.

  6. Try sending an email to external accounts (e.g. Gmail, Outlook) and check the headers to see whether the SPF and DKIM checks pass.

Example errors and what they mean

  • No SPF record found: The domain has no SPF, so your emails look suspicious.

  • DKIM key not valid: The DKIM record is corrupted or missing, so the signature cannot be verified.

  • DMARC policy not found: You have no DMARC, so recipients do not know how to handle failed checks.

Why Email Deliverability is critical

Correct configuration protects you from:

  • Spoofing (someone else sending email as if they were you).

  • Low deliverability rates (emails going to spam folders).

  • Damage to your company image and lost communication with customers.

Tips

At Konet we make sure that every domain fully supports SPF, DKIM and DMARC. If you run into difficulties, you can ask Support to apply the suggested records for you. If a message is not delivered, you can check the headers and use Track Delivery in cPanel to see its route in detail.
